Promise

What is a Promise?

A promise is an Truth Agreement between living beings.  This Truth Agreement involves conditions for actions and the consequences of actions that are taken by living beings.  A promise is also astatement of action that will be taken by a living being, if the other living being takes a certain action.  A statement of action made by a living being is as true as the living being has been proven to be true to past statements of action.  Thus the truth of a promise (statement of action) depends upon the proven truth (past actions) of the one who made the promise.  A true statement of action made by a truthful living being is a true promise.  Since God is a truthful living being that has made true promises to human beings, a promise from God, is a Truth that He will fulfill for a human being, that is in a relationship with Him.

God's Promises are Truth:

"God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind, Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise (make a truth) and not fulfill?"  Numbers 23:19   (Moses expressed that because God is not a man and because He truthful, His Agreements will be fulfilled.  He will do what He says He will do, because His Promises are Truth.)

"Now I am about to go the way of all the earth.  You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises (truth) the Lord your God gave you has failed.  Every promise (truth) has been fulfilled; not one has failed."  Joshua 23:14   (Joshua expresses that God has fulfilled every Agreement that He has made, so He is Truthful to His Promises.)

"The Lord has kept the promise (truth) he made:  I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised...." "You have kept your promise (truth) to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it...."  1 Kings 8:20, 24   (Solomon expresses that God has kept His Agreements and again proven that He is Truth.  He is able to make a promise and fulfill it.)

"You found his (Abraham's) heart faithful to you, and you made a covenant with him to give to his descendants the land of the Canaanites,....You have kept your promise (truth) because you are righteous (true)."  Nehemiah 9:8  (Nehemiah expressed that God has again kept His Agreement, a truth, because He is righteous, true.)

"Your promises (truth) have been thoroughly tested,"  Psalms 119:140  (David expresses that God's promises, His agreements, His statements of actions, have been fully tested and proven as true.)

"For no matter how many promises (truths) God has made, they are 'Yes' (true) in Christ.....through him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God."  2 Corinthians 1:20   (Paul expresses that all of God's Agreements are truth and fulfilled in Jesus.)

"Sanctify them in the truth (promises); your word is truth (promises)"  John 17:17  (Jesus expresses that God's Word, His Promises, His Agreements, His statements of action are Truth.)
